My name is Robin Mednick and I am trained and certified as a LifeSAGEr® by the international company, Celebrations of Life which is based in Minnesota, USA. As an independent Legacy Journey® facilitator I help people reflect upon and write their Legacy letters, Life Reflections and Making a Difference plans.
My experience in this field and passion for this work began long before I took my certification course. Over the years, motivated by my love for personal stories, I initiated and compiled three ‘Books of Wisdom’ from the insights of people I knew and strangers I had never met, who were asked to share their lessons about life. Their words still guide me to this day.
In 2001, I was inspired to create and co-edit the Canadian bestseller, Heroes in Our Midst, which revealed the poignant messages and lessons learned from the triumphs and struggles of some of our greatest Canadian Olympic and Paralympic athletes.
As a founding member and President of Pencils for Kids, a registered Canadian Charity since 2008, I saw what it meant first-hand to give back and engage with a community in the poorest country of the world. Pencils for Kids has provided educational opportunities for children in Niger, West Africa, building schools, sponsoring scholarships for girls and launching income generating agricultural programs for women and children. The extraordinary people I met on this journey have enriched my soul beyond measure and taught me so much about the important things in life.
I have an M.A. from Oxford University in Politics and Economics, a degree in Law from Osgoode Hall, and a Teacher’s diploma in Speech and Drama from Trinity College of London, England. I established the Urban Leadership Awards Program for the Canadian Urban Institute, served as Manager of Canada House in the Commonwealth Games in Manchester, Manager of Special Events at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne and acted as Coordinator of 170 athletes who were ambassadors for Toronto’s 2008 Olympic Bid. For two years I worked as the Executive Producer of the Good Life Radio show on Sirius Satellite Radio booking talented people from around the world who had valuable lessons to impart.
You could say I am a “story junkie” craving the wisdom others may want to share about their lives. We are only one story away from our next inspiration.
It has been my privilege to have worked with people of all ages and abilities and I have been moved by the breadth of their life experiences and knowledge. Everyone has something to share. Everyone has something to leave behind.
But many people will never take the time to write a letter of legacy to their family and friends, a letter that can live on long after they are gone and significantly impact the lives of others.
I am here to invite you to do just that.
